Cancer Socks

Cancer Socks?

Sadly, in 2018, Digga suffered the loss of its CEO and Managing Director, Suzie Wright, following a short but courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

This prompted the launch of a heartfelt initiative, Cancer Socks. Each year an esteemed collection of limited-edition boxed socks will be sold to help raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. What distinguishes these socks from others is not only their beautiful design and meaningful story but also their profound purpose.

The current survival rate of ovarian cancer goal of Cancer Socks is to contribute enough so an early detection test and more targeted treatments can be created. The Cancer Sock team strives toward the goal of ovarian cancer survival rates rising to the same level as breast and prostate cancer survival rates (92% and 96% respectively). All NET proceeds from the sale of each box will go straight to the OCRF for their research.

- For Suzie -

Sadly, Digga lost its CEO and Managing Director, Suzie Wright, in 2018 after a short battle with ovarian cancer. At work, Suzie was an inspiration to all for her strong leadership, dedication to her staff and her relentless support of Australian manufacturing. As the head of a global company in a male-dominated industry, Suzie inspired many women to join the industry and played a pivotal role in laying a solid foundation for the future growth of the company.

Outside of work, Suzie was just as energetic, enjoying days out on the water, driving V8 cars, wakeboarding and travelling but most of all, Suzie will be remembered as the glue that held friendships together, regularly entertaining friends and family. To date, Digga has raised over $350,000 for ovarian cancer research in the hope of increasing the very low survival rates for women diagnosed with this cancer. There’s a desperate need for an early detection test and better treatments so that one day, survival rates are in the high 90 percentiles like breast and prostate cancers which have benefited from incredible awareness and funding. Now, it's ovarian cancer’s turn.

All NET proceeds from the purchase of these socks go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), Australia’s leading independent body dedicated to ovarian cancer research.

The 2023 Design

The featured guest design for the 2023 Ovarian Cancer Socks campaign has been designed by Zoe Davies (Digga Australia CEO and daughter of Suzie Wright), inspired by key features and memories of her mother.

"As CEO and Managing Director of Digga Australia, Suzie was an inspiration to women around the world but especially to her daughter, Zoe."

Remembered for her incredible leadership, elegance and boldness, the design features a striking, red-haired Suzie surrounded by her favourite flower, the lily, and two birds in flight that represent the concept of freedom at the heart of the campaign to see –

"Every woman. Everywhere. Free from the threat of Ovarian Cancer"

The Future

Each year, a new guest designer will be invited to design the feature sock for the boxed set. Our vision: To give women like Susie, a better chance of survival than the one she had.

Zoe says,
"If ovarian cancer research was not so critically underfunded, my mum and many other women may still be here today. The grief of losing someone, let alone your mum, never leaves you, and to play a part in what the future landscape could look for ovarian cancer is so important. Think about a mum, aunt, sister, daughter or friend in your life. I encourage you to fight for them and their future and support this initiative by purchasing a boxed set or two and helping us promote the campaign so that, together, we can create better outcomes for women."

With your help, we can sock it to ovarian cancer.
